You are JEKYLL & HYDE, the musical retelling of the Robert Louis Stevenson book of the same name. You are very philosophical and ultimately pessimistic. However, you do admit that in the battle between good and evil, one can never fully conquer the other. On a sidenote, you were a good musical that suffered from a bad director and lack of money. Please come back! Your songs include "Once Upon a Dream," "Someone Like You," and "This is the Moment." Just got back from the Cannery and about two hours of poker. I owned that table. They were all my little bitches. They all called when I wanted them to call, and folded when I wanted them to fold. I turned $60 into $144. One guy even said to me "you know, you can check once in a while" to which I responded "I could, but then I couldn't get any more money." He was just upset because the one time he called what he thought was a bluff I had the nut flush. Now if only I could find a job that pays that well... I played in my first Vegas torunament tonight at the Cannery, a large casino that locals frequent. It was speed no limit hold'em, meaning that blinds were getting raised every 15 minutes. Out of over 60 people, I finished in 14th. I had a pair of queens (on a short stack) after the flop, and I put the guy on jacks, but he really had jacks and tens. That was the only mistake I made, but put in the same situation again with queens (top pair) on a short stack, I would do it again. I had two habits by the time it was done: Stringing people along when I had aces up or trips, and pushing people out when I had a pathetic high card. It helps when you have an ace almost every time you flip your cards, makes everyone think you keep getting them when you really have 9-2 offsuit. Overall it was fun and taught me that I really don't suck at poker, and I'll probably be doing it again before I leave for tally. Current Mood: accomplished | | Thursday, May 26th, 2005 | | 2:03 pm |
Vegas, baby!
So far I've: Played the new Star Wars slot machine and won a few dollars. Got my mom hooked on Buffy (she has two more episodes to go in season 1). Met a Senator and his wife. Went to a job fair and set up a couple of interviews. Had one interview today where I got my first job offer. Not too bad for less than a week. Next up, another interview or two, gambling, and at least one poker tourney. | | Saturday, May 14th, 2005 | | 3:30 pm |

It's actually going to happen...
I convinced one of the professors to let me into her workshop this summer. That is the last 4000 level workshop I need. All other requirements have been met. My GPA is out of the shitter. I went to the Registrar earlier today and filled out the application to graduate. My tenure in college is drawing to a close, most likely to the delight of my parents. Soon I will enter the real world as a college graduate. Most likely I'll be in Vegas, probably working insurance or some other office job, playing poker on the weekends. In fact, I'm flying out there on the 22nd and going to a job fair on the 25th. Its an exciting time, yet I'm scared shitless. I never thought this would happen this decade, and now its almost here. Hell yeah!
Your Inner European is Irish! |

Sprited and boisterous!
You drink everyone under the table. | | | Friday, April 1st, 2005 | | 4:37 am |
I do believe that is the longest I have ever played poker. The entire tourney lasted about 7 hours. I was knocked out in 5th after just over 6 hours. Sean was knocked out in 4th a few minutes after me. God damn that takes a lot out of a guy. Doing this give the World Series of Poker a whole new perspective, where they go for longer for multiple days. I have a long way to go still before I can be a threat there, but it will happen. And now I'm going to crash. Current Mood: exhausted | | Wednesday, March 16th, 2005 | | 6:23 pm |
No comment Bacardi 151 Congratulations! You're 146 proof, with specific scores in beer (60) , wine (50), and liquor (156). | All right. No more messing around. Your knowledge of alcohol is so high that you have drinking and getting plastered down to a science. Sure, you could get wasted drinking beer, but who needs all those trips to the bathroom? You head straight for the bar and pick up that which is most efficient. | | My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 84% on proof | | You scored higher than 87% on beer index | | You scored higher than 87% on wine index | | You scored higher than 99% on liquor index |

Wow, I still have a Livejournal
I'd apologize for not updating in so long, but I'm not sorry. I've just been busy with life, good and bad. Highlights: I was in Vegas for the winter break. New Years on the Strip kicked ass. Lots of booze, lots of fireworks from 10 different casinos, just fun in general. I lost somewhere between $200 and $300 over the course of three weeks, but that's not too bad. $100 of that was at a poker table when I had a beat so bad that everyone was feeling bad for me, including the dealer who kept apologizing. That's what happens when people stay in with a 9 high after the flop and get the only two cards that can beat me on the turn and river. But on the plus side, the bigger players at the table couldn't take me for anything, and were misreading me the entire time, thinking I had three of a kind when I really had a full house. Got a new pool stick. Its a good stick. I've played 5 games with it, and only lost one, by one ball. Plus I can break now! Got a new rejection to add to my list. "There's no spark" delivered via AOL Instant Messenger at 2:30 in the morning. Perhaps she could have figured this out before the our first date back in mid-November? Lame (even according to the Weasel and also acording a mutual friend) But this just means that I'll be free for the next thing to come along, whenever/whatever that might be. Apartment life here is still pretty good. Not much going on. No news is good news. My uncle got me ESPN NFL 2K5 for Christmas, or as I like to call it, straight D's. I'm playing as Jacksonville and have already had several 100+ point games. Dorky? Perhaps. Fun? Hell yeah. Gonna go see Rusty and Rachel soon in Jacksonville. That should be fun. Rach always wants to hook me up with someone. All I know is that it shall be a weekend full of nerdy antics and gaming. Beware the character with the jedi mind trick! He will destroy women's minds to make them sex slaves! Did I mention my character is evil? School is almost done! After this semester I'll just need one more class! Yay! No idea where I'm going from here, but it will be fun and exciting. I didn't realize til the other day how much I'll be leaving behind, and I was sad for a moment. And then I realized that there was even more I would be leaving behind, and thought "fuck this shit!" I'll miss it, but I think I'm ready to move on. That's about it, or at least most of the highlights. Current Mood: tiredCurrent Music: Aqua Teen Hunger Force | | Tuesday, November 30th, 2004 | | 3:12 pm |

Quick update
To everyone that may or may not have been looking for me online lately, I apologize for not being around. My computer died on me, completely. The restore data in my computer was corrupt, so I couldn't salvage it like that. I couldn't use one of my roommates backup discs because he has a Sony Vaio. I tried using Sean's, but since he has Windows 98, that just fucked my machine up more. Finally I got Compaq to send me the recovery discs (all 8 of them), so now my machine is mostly up and running again, but I still have issues with the internet. School is going better this semester than it has since before I started working at ABC. Its amazing what the effects of stress can do to you, especially when you remove that stress. To put it all in perspective, I've missed no more than one week total in every class (2 class meetings for most), and for most of those I missed because I couldn't find a parking spot. Compare that to spring semester when I had missed half of the classes by this point in time. Also, I am drinking a lot less now. That job really did drive me to drink. Most shocking, I got an 88 on a midterm in my Currents in Contemporary Lit class, which is great since I didn't know we were having the midterm that day. Go me! There's more to life than that right now, but that's all I have time for. I have class soon, and I still have more homework to do. But at least I can stay awake for it all now. That makes me sad
I was watching Sealab 2021, and they were making fun of Transformers. That makes me a sad panda. | | Monday, October 4th, 2004 | | 10:27 pm |

I just finished watching The Empire Strikes Back on DVD, and I noticed something kinda funny. One of the changes they made for the DVD set concerned the hologram of the Emperor in this movie. They replaced the original hologram, which was actually an old woman with a voice over by Clive Revill, with a hologram of Ian McDiarmid (who plays the Emperor in every other Star Wars film where the Emperor makes an appearance). However, in the credits, it still lists Clive Revill as having the voice. Someone goofed in the studio. | | Wednesday, September 22nd, 2004 | | 2:06 pm |

Apparently Magic leads to poker
So I'm watching the WSOP as usual, and for one of the interviews they talk to one of the "young guns" still in the tournament (John Murphy?), saying that he got his poker starts because of a different kind of card game. This guy in his early 20s that is in the top 50 at this year's event started playing cards by learning Magic. I thought that was great. | | Thursday, September 2nd, 2004 | | 9:20 pm |
All right, lets see if I can sum things up here: I am officially a student again. Yes, that sentence is correct. I was dismissed after academic reasons, but went and talked to the dean on the Wednesday of drop/add week. He put me back in on academic probation. Let's hope I don't fuck things up again. But that all depends on wether or not I have enough time for homework, which leads to... I'm quitting my job! Huzzah! Fuck them up their stupid asses! The first day that the store manager saw me after my vacation he pulls me into the beer cooler with the assistant manager (whom I had seen on my first day back, yet he didn't say a word to me, not even hello) and accused me of 1) always drinking on the job 2) always being drunk and 3) stealing. WTF??? If I was drunk, I wouldn't be able to kick people out of the store, which is about the only pleasure I got there. Also, if I was waiting for someone to try shoplifting so I could kick their ass, why would I do it myself? It just doesn't make sense. Besides, if I was stealing, my bar would be in a lot better condition. At any rate, my parents said that since I was so close to finishing (4 classes for my major, and my foreign language which I didn't know about until spring of this year because I had constantly been told I didn't need one) and since I needed my GPA to come up, they would front my bills. So fuck my job! What else is there..... The new apartment is interesting. I never see my roommates, which is kinda nice. Gives me a quiet apartment to do my homework in, or even better, take a nap. I got a minifridge, and the microwave that had been in my car (you've all seen it, and some have sat next to it) is now in my room. The last poster that is going up is my Kill Bill poster, courtesy of Frank. Went to Barnacle Bill's last night. Someone who shall remain nameless in this post got completely blitzed and tried to steal a picture from the ladies room. Kinda interesting. Also, another person that shall remain nameless who was just as blitzed kept asking me out on a date, but I kept saying to her "you have a boyfriend." *shrug* Hurricane is on it's way now. We're gonna feel it, just like the rest of the state. We won't get the brunt of it (assuming my fear of it brushing the bottom of the state before swinging through the gulf to Tally doesn't happen), but it's still something to fear. If something doesn't change, I'll have to get a hurricane party going, so that I'm not the only one sitting on my porch, holding a drink, daring the hurricane gods to "bring it on." Yes, I need help, but at least it will let me get some decent use out of my Cruzan chair. On another note, Chris (Weasel) is coming up next weekend. I'll be missing Rusty's party due to obvious money issues, but it will still be fun up here. I also just found out that FSU's slaughter of Miami is getting pushed back to Friday (which means I can watch it!) and there is a big party Saturday night. Some people know it as the Hairy party. I think that's what it's called. And I think that's it. This post is dedicated to all those people that nag me about updating my journal. Current Mood: *shrug* |
